Railway freight transport types, also known as railway freight transport modes, are currently classified into three types according to China's railway technical conditions: full carload (FCL), less-than-carload (LCL), and container. FCL is suitable for transporting large quantities of goods; LCL is suitable for transporting small batches of scattered goods; and container is suitable for transporting precision, valuable, and fragile goods.

Cargo weight is calculated based on gross weight, in kilograms. Weights less than 1 kilogram are rounded up to 1 kilogram, and weights exceeding 1 kilogram are rounded to the nearest kilogram. For non-wide-body aircraft, the weight of each piece of cargo generally does not exceed 80 kilograms, and the volume generally does not exceed 40 × 60 × 100 centimeters. For wide-body aircraft, the weight of each piece of cargo generally does not exceed 250 kilograms, and the volume generally does not exceed 250 × 200 × 160 centimeters. For cargo exceeding these weight and volume limits, the Northwest Company will determine whether it can be accepted based on specific conditions.
