Maritime transport is a mode of transportation that uses ships to move goods between ports in different countries and regions via sea lanes. It is the most important mode of transport in international trade. More than two-thirds of the total volume of international trade and 90% of my country's total import and export freight volume are transported by sea. There are two main modes of maritime transport: liner shipping and charter shipping.
Maritime transport utilizes natural waterways and is not limited by roads or railways, resulting in greater throughput capacity. As political, economic, and natural conditions change, routes can be adjusted and altered at any time to complete transport tasks.
With the development of the international shipping industry, modern shipbuilding technology has become increasingly sophisticated, and ships are becoming increasingly larger. Very large crude carriers (VLCCs) have reached over 600,000 tons, and fifth-generation container ships have a carrying capacity exceeding 5,000 TEUs.
