International information systems are a crucial support tool for international logistics, especially international intermodal transport. The difficulty in establishing such systems lies in two aspects: management challenges and substantial investment. Furthermore, the uneven distribution of information levels between different regions of the world, with some having higher levels of logistics information and others lower, further complicates the establishment of such systems.
Currently, a better approach to establishing international express and logistics information systems is to connect with the public information systems of customs authorities in various countries. This allows for real-time monitoring of the actual conditions of various ports, airports, intermodal routes, and terminals, providing support for supply and sales logistics decisions. International logistics was one of the earliest sectors to develop Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), and EDI-based international logistics will have a significant impact on the internationalization of logistics.
